Furano Ski Resort

Visitor guide for the Furano Ski Resort, a leading ski resort on Hokkaido.

What to know

Furano Ski Resort (富良野スキー場, Furano Skijō) is one of Hokkaido's premier snow resorts. Nestled in a town famous for its flowers and TV dramas, the resort provides an exciting winter attraction. It's ideal for multi-day family snow trips, offering diverse runs and family-friendly snow activities.

The resort spans two connected peaks, each featuring long, fast runs that have hosted World Cup races. There are also plenty of wide, gentle slopes for beginners.

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, Furano Ski Resort includes Furano Snowland, where you can try snow rafting, snowmobiling, and other snow activities.

At the base, two large Prince Hotels have rear entrances directly accessing the slopes. Additionally, many small pensions—family-run lodgings with Western-style rooms similar to B&Bs—offer a pleasant and affordable stay in Furano.

Furano Ski Resort is located three kilometers west of Furano Station, reachable in 5-10 minutes by car or taxi. Buses from Asahikawa Airport and Sapporo also stop at the base of the ski area and Furano Station.
