What to know
Hiroshima (広島) is the main city of the Chugoku Region, with a population of over one million.
On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima became the first city to suffer an atomic bomb attack, gaining worldwide recognition for this tragic event. The bomb's immense destructive force leveled nearly everything within a two-kilometer radius.
Post-war reconstruction efforts were immense. Historic landmarks like Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden were rebuilt. At the city's heart, a large park was created, named Peace Memorial Park, symbolizing Hiroshima's rebirth and hope for peace.
