Canal Area

Visitor guide for the canal area of Hida Furukawa.

What to know

A small canal called Seto River (瀬戸川, Setogawa) runs about 400 meters through the well-preserved old town of Furukawa, home to many colorful carp.

Along its most picturesque stretch, the canal is flanked by old storehouses with white walls (shirakabe dozo). At one end, in Festival Square, you'll find the Furukawa Festival Hall and the Takumikan Craft Museum.

The canal area is about a five-minute walk from the station.
