What to know
Nestled between Tokyo and Yokohama, Kawasaki (川崎) is a sprawling coastal city in Kanagawa Prefecture along the Tamagawa River. Its downtown area hugs the industrial waterfront, while the landscape turns increasingly suburban as you move inland.
Though not a major tourist hub, Kawasaki offers several attractions worth visiting. In the city center, you'll find the revered Kawasaki Daishi temple, while the suburbs house unique museums like the Nihon Minkaen open-air museum and the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum.
