Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura

Complete visitor guide for Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura, a feudal Japan theme park in Kinugawa Onsen. Tips on attractions, shows, and access.

What to know

Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura is a theme park that recreates town life during the Edo Period (1603–1868). The park features Edo-style architecture and is populated by townspeople in period costumes. It has even served as a filming location for historical TV dramas. Visitors can rent costumes (for a fee) and explore historically inspired shops and museums, play games, and enjoy live shows and theater performances.

The park has various shops and restaurants, most selling souvenirs like teapots, woodblock prints, and toy weapons. Some shops are replica storefronts demonstrating how craftsmen worked. Visitors can also try hands-on experiences such as a shamisen workshop or archery.

Other attractions include a haunted temple filled with Japanese spirits and demons, and a ninja training hall where walls seem to bend and balls roll uphill. The Ninja Trick Maze, a challenging labyrinth, is a highlight.

Don't miss the live shows held multiple times daily at various theaters. Performances range from comedy and traditional water magic to action-packed shows like the Grand Ninja Theater, featuring sword fights, magic, and martial arts.

Tobu operates buses every 30 minutes between Kinugawa Onsen Station and Nikko Edomura. The trip takes 20 minutes, costs 490 yen one way, and is covered by the Nikko All Area Pass.

A free shuttle bus runs between Nikko Edomura and JR Nikko Station 3–4 times daily on days the park is open. The trip takes 30 minutes, and some buses stop at the Omotesando bus stop near Toshogu Shrine.
