What to know
Koka's Ninja House (忍術屋敷, Ninjutsu Yashiki) is nearly 300 years old and was once home to ninja. From the outside it looks like an ordinary house, but inside it hides many clever traps and devices meant to stop intruders and provide escape routes in emergencies. Visitors can explore the house and uncover its trapdoors and secret passages.
Exhibits throughout the mansion reveal the combat techniques ninja used and their smart use of unique weapons and tools. There is also a shuriken throwing range where you can try your hand at hitting target boards.
The Ninja House is a 20-minute walk south of Konan Station on the JR Kusatsu Line.
