Ghibli Park

Visitor guide for Ghibli Park, a theme park in Nagoya about the movies by Studio Ghibli.

What to know

Ghibli Park (ジブリパーク) is a theme park inspired by the beloved animated films of Studio Ghibli, not to be confused with the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo. Opened in November 2022 just outside Nagoya, it differs from typical theme parks by offering no rides—except a few small ones for children—instead inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the atmospheric fantasy worlds of popular Ghibli movies.

The park comprises five areas scattered across the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, the former site of the 2005 World Expo, rather than being connected in one contiguous space.

Tickets must be purchased in advance, and daily visitor numbers are intentionally limited to maintain a pleasant, uncrowded atmosphere. As a result, securing tickets is expected to remain challenging for the foreseeable future.

From central Nagoya, take the Higashiyama Subway Line to its terminal, Fujigaoka (30 minutes, 290 yen, frequent departures). Then transfer to the Linimo elevated train and alight at Aichikyuhaku Kinenkoen Station, right in front of the north entrance of the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (15 minutes, 340 yen, frequent departures).

Alternatively, direct buses run from the Meitetsu Bus Center next to Nagoya Station to the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. The journey takes 40 minutes and costs 1200 yen one way, with buses operating roughly hourly.

Ghibli Park's areas are spread across the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. From the station, it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the Hill of Youth and Ghibli's Grand Warehouse areas, with other areas reachable in 5-15 minute walks. Free buses run every 20-30 minutes within the park.
