What to know
Yamato no Yu (大和の湯) is a modern, elegant public bath house located just south of the park surrounding the Boso no Mura open-air museum, not far from Narita Airport. It is an excellent choice for travelers with spare time near the airport who want to experience a Japanese bath.
The bath facilities include indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna, separated by gender. Three small private baths are available with same-day reservations. The geothermal waters emerge at 19°C but are heated to around 41°C. Since the source temperature is below 25°C, the waters are technically classified as a "cold spring" (reisen) rather than a "hot spring" (onsen), yet they contain natural minerals with various health benefits.
Beyond the baths, there is a relaxing lounge, a Japanese restaurant, a sushi bar, and a fitness gym and spa. Children under six are not allowed, but there is no policy prohibiting tattoos.
Yamato no Yu is not easily accessible by public transport. It is a 20–30 minute walk from Shimosa-Manzaki Station, one stop from Narita Station (5 minutes, 200 yen) on the JR Narita Line, or a 10–15 minute walk from the Boso no Mura open-air museum.
