Oshinkoshin Falls

Visitor guide for the Oshinkoshin Falls, a waterfall on the Shiretoko Peninsula, Hokkaido.

What to know

Oshinkoshin Falls (オシンコシンの滝, Oshinkoshin-no-taki) is one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls, located right off the coastal highway between Shari and Utoro. Known as "Sobi no Taki" or the twin beauties waterfall, its stream splits into two distinct cascades.

A short staircase leads to a viewing platform about halfway up, bringing you within a few meters of the rushing water. There is a free parking lot, public restrooms, and a souvenir shop nearby.

The falls sit beside Route 334, about a five-minute drive south of Utoro.

Buses running between Shari town center and the national park make a brief stop at Oshinkoshin Falls.
