What to know

Rising 333 meters above central Tokyo, Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) is the world's tallest self-supported steel tower, standing three meters taller than its inspiration, the Eiffel Tower. Completed in 1958, it became a symbol of Japan's post-war economic resurgence and remained the country's tallest structure until 2012, when Tokyo Skytree overtook it. Today, it continues to serve as a broadcast antenna and a major tourist attraction.

The Main Deck at 150 meters is accessible by elevator or a 600-step staircase (both require a ticket). Thanks to its central location, the observatory offers a fascinating city view despite its moderate height. Highlights include glass floor panels, a souvenir shop, and a cafe.

A separate elevator takes visitors from the Main Deck to the Top Deck at 250 meters, providing a bird's-eye view high above surrounding buildings. It is Tokyo's third highest observation deck (after the two decks at Tokyo Skytree). On clear days, you can spot Tokyo Skytree and even Mount Fuji in the distance.

The base of the tower, known as Foot Town, houses shops, restaurants, and the Red Tokyo Tower e-sports entertainment complex. Spanning multiple floors, this complex offers interactive games and e-sport activities. Admission tickets allow unlimited play during their validity period.

The nearest subway stations are Onarimon (Mita Line), Akabanebashi (Oedo Line), and Kamiyacho (Hibiya Line), each about a 5-10 minute walk away. Alternatively, it's a 15-20 minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station (JR Yamanote Line) or Daimon Station (Asakusa or Oedo lines).
