What to know
The Toyama Glass Art Museum (富山市ガラス美術館) in Toyama City houses an extensive collection of glass art from around the globe. The museum is located in the striking Kirari building, designed by the famous architect Kengo Kuma, which also serves as the city's public library.
The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent displays are located on the fourth and sixth floors, while temporary exhibitions are spread across various galleries on other floors. The fourth floor showcases contemporary glass art by international artists acquired by the museum over the years, and the sixth floor presents the "Glass Art Garden" exhibition, featuring installations by Dale Chihuly.
The museum is situated a few hundred meters south of Toyama Castle Park and about two kilometers south of Toyama Station. Take tram line 3 or 6 to Grandplaza-mae (12 minutes, 210 yen), from where it is a short walk to the museum.
