What to know
Daisetsuzan (大雪山) is Hokkaido's largest national park, encompassing a mountainous area of nearly untouched wilderness that is bigger than some of Japan's smaller prefectures. It is a haven for hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, deer, and brown bears, and it is the first place in Japan to experience fall colors and snow each autumn.
