Uzumasa Kyoto Village

Visitor guide for the Toei Uzumasa Eigamura, a film set and theme park about traditional Japan.

What to know

Uzumasa Kyoto Village (also known as Toei Uzumasa Eigamura or Kyoto Studio Park) is a unique blend of working film set and theme park. It recreates a small feudal-era town, with traditional buildings that serve as backdrops for historical movies and TV dramas.

The park features full streetscapes, including a replica of the old Nihonbashi Bridge, a traditional courthouse, a Meiji-period police box, and part of the former Yoshiwara red-light district. Staff in period costumes enhance the atmosphere, and you can watch actual filming when it takes place.

Beyond the sets, Uzumasa Kyoto Village offers paid attractions such as a ninja escape room, a ninja maze, a haunted house, and various shows. Visitors can also try cultural activities like tea ceremony, flower arranging, dance, and music. Shops and restaurants are available.

For a memorable experience, dress up in period costumes—over 30 styles including samurai, geisha, and ninja—and get photographed. You can also rent costumes to wear while exploring the park.

The village is a 5-minute walk from Uzumasa-Koryuji Station on the Keifuku Arashiyama Line (10 minutes, 250 yen from Shijo-Omiya or Arashiyama) or a 15-minute walk from JR Hanazono Station (10 minutes, 200 yen from Kyoto Station).

Alternatively, take Kyoto City Bus 75 or Kyoto Bus 73, 76, or 83 from Kyoto Station (about 30 minutes), or Kyoto City Bus 11 or 91, or Kyoto Bus 63 or 66 from Shijo/Kawaramachi.
