What to know
Fujinomiya (富士宮) is a city in Shizuoka Prefecture, located on the southwestern slopes of Mount Fuji. The city developed around Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine, the most significant shrine in the area and the traditional starting point for ascending the mountain. Many climbers still begin their journey from Fujinomiya via the Fujinomiya 5th Station, as it offers the shortest and one of the most popular routes to the summit.
Fujinomiya is also home to Shiraito Falls, one of Japan's most beautiful waterfalls. The falls are located on the outskirts of the city, along the route to the Fuji Five Lakes region on the mountain's northern side.
