What to know
Legoland Japan opened in Nagoya in 2017. This outdoor amusement park features attractions designed mainly for young children, with some rides and exhibits that appeal to accompanying adults. Expect giant Lego models, rides, building stations, and dining areas throughout the park.
The park is divided into several themed zones that reflect different Lego worlds. At the center is Miniland Japan, a miniature landscape built from millions of Lego bricks showcasing iconic Japanese landmarks. Here you can see Kyoto, Tokyo, and Mount Fuji just steps apart. The rotating Observation Tower near Miniland offers a bird's-eye view of the park and its surroundings.
Factory and Bricktopia are two zones near the entrance. Factory offers a tour showing how Lego bricks are made, including the machinery used. Bricktopia features rides and a hands-on area with workshops on model and robotics creation, plus a model building and testing room. There's also a Duplo playground for toddlers. The Big Shop, the official Lego store, sells sets and products from across the Lego universe.
The remaining four areas—Adventure, Lego City, Knight's Kingdom, and Pirate Shores—offer a variety of rides and scheduled shows. Note that shows are only in Japanese. Younger children will enjoy Lego City, a zone designed specifically for them. Each area has at least one themed shop and restaurant, as well as a free-build section. Character mascots appear in their themed areas and are usually happy to pose for photos.
Just outside the entrance you'll find Sea Life Nagoya aquarium, a Legoland Hotel, and a pleasant collection of shops and restaurants.
From Nagoya Station, take the Aonami Line to its terminal, Kinjofuto Station. The one-way trip takes about 25 minutes, costs 360 yen, and is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Trains run roughly every 15 minutes. Legoland is a five-minute walk from Kinjofuto Station. It's also close to the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park.
