Nagashima Resort

Visitor guide for Nagashima Resort and Nagashima Spaland, an amusement park outside of Nagoya.

What to know

Nagashima Resort is a major vacation destination just outside Nagoya. It comprises five main leisure facilities: Nagashima Spaland amusement park, a water park, a hot spring complex, an outlet shopping mall, and the flower park Nabana no Sato. The resort sits on a long strip of land surrounded by rivers and the sea, aptly named Nagashima, meaning "long island."

Nagashima Spaland, widely regarded as western Japan's best amusement park for roller coasters, is the resort's main draw. With over forty rides, it offers gentle options for children and thrilling ones for adrenaline seekers. Even before entering the main gate, you'll spot the Steel Dragon 2000, a massive roller coaster that stretches across the entire park.

Within Nagashima Spaland lies Joyful Waterpark, a full-featured water park packed with slides and pools, including a wave pool. It operates only during summer.

At the resort's southwestern corner, Nagashima Spa Yuami no Shima offers a hot spring complex with attractive indoor and outdoor baths set in artificial nature. The baths are divided by gender, with scenery recreated from Kurobe Gorge (typically the men's bath) and Oirase Stream (usually the women's bath). Jacuzzis, saunas, massage services, and restaurants are also available.

Next to the amusement park's main entrance is the Anpanman Museum, based on the popular anime and geared toward young children.

Mitsui Outlet Park Jazz Dream Nagashima is a large outlet mall right beside Nagashima Spaland. It features over 300 stores, including famous foreign and domestic boutiques, world-renowned brand outlets, popular sporting goods, and many other shopping options.
