What to know
The Nagoya City Science Museum (名古屋市科学館) is instantly recognizable by its giant silver globe, which houses one of the world's largest planetariums. Monthly programs cover current astronomical phenomena. Although shows are only in Japanese, the stunning projections of stars and natural phenomena on the massive dome are captivating even without language comprehension.
Five of the museum's seven floors feature a wide range of permanent exhibits, with temporary exhibitions held in the basement. Interactive displays offer hands-on science learning for all ages. Highlights include the "Tornado Lab", "Electric Discharge Lab", and "Deep Freezing Lab", which recreates polar conditions.
The museum is a 5-10 minute walk from Fushimi Station on the Higashiyama and Tsurumai Subway Lines.
