What to know
Rusutsu Resort (ルスツ) is widely regarded as one of Hokkaido's premier ski destinations. Its expansive ski area spans three mountains, offering a diverse range of long runs that include well-groomed trails, deep powder, and exciting tree skiing. The resort sits near Lake Toya (Toyako) and lies just across Mount Yotei from Niseko.
At the base of the slopes, two large hotels—the Rusutsu Resort Hotel and the high-rise Westin Rusutsu Resort—provide convenient lodging. Several smaller pensions are also available in the nearby town center of Rusutsu. Beyond skiing, the resort boasts numerous attractions such as restaurants, shops, pool facilities, and hot spring baths. Summer activities include golf and an amusement park with over 50 rides, including seven roller coasters.
During the ski season, a free daily shuttle bus runs between Sapporo and the resort, but reservations must be made by 3 PM the day before.
