Daikanyama

Visitor guide for Daikanyama, a fashionable district in Tokyo.

What to know

Daikanyama (代官山) is a stylish district in Tokyo, located just south of Shibuya. Unlike its bustling neighbors Shibuya and Ebisu, which feature towering buildings, massive shopping centers, and heavy traffic, Daikanyama offers a quieter atmosphere with a blend of low-rise residential and commercial buildings. The area is dominated by streetwear and fashion boutiques, while independent cafes and restaurants provide a tempting array of dining options.

The district is compact and easily explored on foot, as most popular spots are within a ten-minute walk from the station and from each other. A key highlight is the Daikanyama T-Site, a charming commercial complex featuring a beautifully designed bookstore, cafes, and retail stores.

Daikanyama Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line serves as the gateway to the area. The one-way trip from Shibuya takes three minutes and costs 140 yen.

Alternatively, you can reach Daikanyama on foot in under ten minutes from Ebisu Station or about 15 minutes from Shibuya Station, both of which are stops on the JR Yamanote Line.
