Yebisu Garden Place

Visitor guide for Yebisu Garden Place in Tokyo.

What to know

Yebisu Garden Place (恵比寿ガーデンプレイス) is one of Tokyo's pleasant city-within-a-city complexes. Comprising about a dozen buildings and skyscrapers, it offers a wide selection of restaurants and shops, the Westin Tokyo hotel, the Michelin three-star Château Restaurant Joël Robuchon, offices, residential spaces, and a photography museum.

The complex occupies the former site of a beer brewery, where the Yebisu Beer brand has been produced since 1890. Interestingly, the beer brand gave its name to the surrounding town and Ebisu Station, not the other way around.

Opened in April 2024, Yebisu Brewery Tokyo is a small brewery and museum with exhibits on the history and science of beer brewing in Japan. Entry to the museum is free, and beer brewed exclusively on site can be purchased and tasted at the tap room. Paid guided tours are available but conducted only in Japanese. There is also a shop.

* "Ebisu" is the modern spelling of "Yebisu"; the syllable "ye" and its corresponding kana have almost completely disappeared from modern Japanese and been replaced by "e".

Yebisu Garden Place is a five-minute walk from the east exit of Ebisu Station, one stop south of Shibuya on the JR Yamanote Line. It is connected to the station by the clearly marked "Yebisu Skywalk."
