What to know
Seaside Momochi (シーサイドももち, Shīsaido Momochi) is Fukuoka's waterfront district built on reclaimed land along Hakata Bay. Originally developed for the 1989 Asia Pacific Expo, the area boasts wide, tree-lined streets, futuristic architecture, public parks, and no overhead utility lines.
Seaside Momochi offers a variety of attractions including beaches, museums, shops, and restaurants. The main highlights are Fukuoka Tower and Fukuoka PayPay Dome, located about one kilometer apart.
The waterfront is a 15-20 minute walk from Nishijin, Tojinmachi, or Fujisaki subway stations. By bus, it's a 15-25 minute ride from Tenjin Station or 20-30 minutes from Hakata Station (260 yen one way). Numerous bus stops serve the area, with bus line W1 running frequently between Tenjin, Fukuoka Dome, Fukuoka Tower, and Fujisaki Subway Station.
Seaside Momochi is also a 20-minute ferry ride (1200 yen) from Uminonakamichi Seaside Park across the bay, with ferries departing every 1-3 hours.
