What to know
At the Furano Cheese Factory (Furano Cheese Kōbō), you can watch local camembert-style cheese being made through viewing windows. The shop offers samples of various cheeses, including a striking black variety colored with squid ink.
The complex also houses an ice cream parlor ("ice milk factory") and a pizzeria ("pizza factory"), plus hands-on workshops where you can make butter, ice cream, bread, and cheese. Workshops run at scheduled times throughout the day; only the bread workshop requires advance reservations.
The cheese factory is a five-minute taxi or car ride from Furano Station. There is no public transport option.
