What to know
A short walk from Zenkoji Temple, the Nagano Prefectural Art Museum (長野県立美術館) hosts rotating fine art exhibitions with changing themes. Most works are by artists born in or connected to Nagano Prefecture, or depict the region's beautiful landscapes.
The adjacent Higashiyama Kaii Gallery, opened in 1990, showcases works by Higashiyama Kaii, who was inspired by Nagano's scenery and created many landscape paintings. Seasonal rotating exhibitions feature his art.
The museum and gallery are a five-minute walk northeast of Zenkoji Temple.
