Curb Market

Visitor guide for the Curb Market, a seafood market in Sapporo City.

What to know

Curb Market (Sapporo Jōgai Ichiba) is a lively cluster of nearly 80 shops and restaurants spread across several blocks just outside Sapporo's Central Wholesale Market. As one of the city's largest public markets, it specializes in Hokkaido seafood—crab, sea urchin, salmon roe, squid, and scallops—along with seasonal local produce like corn, melons, and potatoes.

The market caters to both locals and tourists, offering a good selection at reasonable prices. Like other seafood markets in Japan, a great way to experience it is to enjoy a bowl of fresh local seafood over rice (domburi) at one of the on-site restaurants.

The Curb Market is a ten-minute walk from either JR Soen Station (3 minutes, 210 yen from JR Sapporo Station) or Nijuyonken Subway Station (10 minutes, 250 yen from Odori Station).
