What to know
Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal (大さん橋国際客船ターミナル), also known as Osanbashi Pier, sits between Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park. It's one of the main piers where international cruise ships dock in Yokohama. The 400-meter-long pier features walkways and green spaces open to the public, making it an interesting attraction even for those not boarding a ship.
Originally built in 1894, the pier was reconstructed in 2002 as a passenger terminal. Its bold design incorporates grass and wooden decking that mimic rolling waves. It's one of Yokohama's best spots for a stroll and unobstructed views of the Minato Mirai skyline. Below the walking area are boarding facilities, shops, restaurants, and a hall for small exhibitions and events.
Osanbashi Pier is located between Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park. Since all three are connected by a pleasant waterfront promenade, the pier is most easily reached on foot from either of the other two sites.
Alternatively, it's a five-minute walk from Nihon-Odori Station on the Minato Mirai Line (6 minutes, 230 yen from Yokohama Station). It's also a 15-minute walk from Kannai Station on the JR Negishi Line (5 minutes, 160 yen from Yokohama Station).
The Akaikutsu Loop Bus stops right in front of the terminal (Osanbashi Kyakusen Terminal stop). The loop bus connects many of Yokohama's sightseeing spots and costs 220 yen per ride or 600 yen for a day pass.
